Hi,
I'm Cris Melo. I was born and raised in Brazil and came to the US
in 1991.
I currently live in Annapolis,
Maryland, USA.
I'm
exclusively an Internet-based artist. Since 2003 I've sold hundreds
of paintings and crafts online.
My customers are people I've never met in person, and my creations
live in places I may never get to visit
- the magic of the Internet! I have shipped to Israel, Greece, UK,
Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, etc.
Most of my customers are in the US and most orders come from California!
My virtual stores are open 24-7, 7 days a week. I ship to any place
in the world that gets mail service.
My artwork is very colorful and vibrant. I chose to not get formal
training. There's an element in "untrained" art
that I very much appreciate and never wanted to lose: the innocence
and truth of expression.
Of course, there's so much more to it, but it's up to the viewer to
experience the rest.
I've always loved children's art and have drawn since I could grab
a pencil.
My love for art materials - their smell, feel, texture and colors
- is one of my favorite childhood recollections.
Artist statement
"My method in art is to simply allow my moods to direct my creativity,
wherever it wants to go.
I feel that I'm merely an instrument through which the artistic process
evolves.
Through the use of bright and happy colors, I find subtle ways to
express my innermost emotions.
I love it that my artwork seems to invoke an impulse for storytelling
in people's minds.
I love it that my art makes people smile."
